Jay Park records 50,000 copies in pre-orders for “Take A Deeper Look”

Just days before the release of Jay Park’s official mini-album, “Take A Deeper Look“, he’s already managed to record 50,000 copies in pre-orders!

A representative of Sidus HQ revealed, “After we released press reports, posters, and album jacket photos for the album last week, our album distributor has been receiving an explosive amount of pre-orders.  We only had 30,000 copies for the first round of production, so we had to increase it to 50,000 in order to keep up with the orders.”

The album will also be produced as a limited edition with a BTS photoshoot diary.

The album is special for fans in that not only does it mark his official return, but also his growth as a singer-songwriter.  He’s been revealed to have participated in composing and writing all six of the album’s tracks, along with guest features by famous rappers like The Quiett and Dok2.

Stay tuned for the album’s release on April 27th.

Park Bom's Solo

YG has recently stated that Park Bom will be releasing a solo single later this month. Well, YG has uploaded a teaser photo onto their yg-life blog. The track is set to be released April 21st along with the music video. The track was produced by Teddy and mixed with Bom's voice, Blackjacks know that it is worth waiting for.

Brian Joo Accused of Plagiarism?

Brian Joo was accused of plagiarizing Drew Ryan's song "Domino." Many people stated that Brian's song is directly plagiarized from this song, and they were further confused when the song "Domino" was on his album. However, Brian's entertainment company came forward and said that they bought the song from Mr. Ryan. What happens is that these composers/musicians will put their songs up onto youtube and other media sources to get them out there after they make them. That way, they can advertise it and sell it. Mr. Ryan sold his song Brian which is why "Domino" is on his album and is exactly the same, and that is also why Brian's "Components of Tears" has the same melody.

So fans rest assured, our Brian is not a plagiarist =]

By the time the poll closed Thursday night, he had garnered 406,252 “influential” votes and 33,813 “not influential” votes. This is certainly not the first time Rain has taken the top spot; he won in 2006 and 2007, and placed in second in 2008. Coming in a distant second this year was Jay Chou, Taiwanese star of The Green Hornet, getting 207,239 “influential” votes. MBLAQ’s Mir and G.O. had a surprise childhood photo competition on Twitter.

On April 13th, Mir tweeted, “My past pictures, I’ll upload one by one” and began to reveal his childhood pictures.

In one photo, he’s seen wearing his school uniform while posing closely with his friend. Fans chuckled over Mir’s chubby cheeks and wide eyes.

After seeing Mir’s tweets, G.O. tweeted, “Then I’m [going to upload] past pictures as well” and kicked off their photo competition. He first uploaded a picture of himself wearing a bright red jumper, proving that he’s been a fashionista since birth.

Mir responded by tweeting, “Oh, I can’t lose” and uploaded another photo where he stands nonchalantly in front of a lake. Netizens immediately noticed how Mir’s expression remained the same for both photos, despite the time difference between them.

As a final response, G.O. tweeted, “I can’t lose to Bang Chul Yong (Mir’s real name). This is my affluent birthday party! Behind me is a Goryeo Celadon jar which I received as a gift.” In his new picture, he’s seen posing like a little gentleman while wearing a yellow shirt.

While guesting on tvN’s “Taxi“, Yunho stated, “If I were to date, I’d like to keep it private. I also want to get married at 32.”

On April 13th, Big Bang’s Seungri uploaded a video of himself fanboying over his hyungs while they goofed around on animal rides.

Attaching a message with the video, Seungri wrote, “I saw Big Bang’s T.O.P. and Taeyang at the Daemyung Resort in Byunsan. It was so cool.”

SME books SNSD a holiday house for vacation + JYPE’s surprise gifts + YGE’s motivation tactics

After conquering 2010 with their successes from “Hoot” promotions late last year, it was recently revealed that SNSD had received a “surprise present” from their agency, SM Entertainment, as a way to give them time off before their soon-to-come full fledged venture into the Japanese market.

SM Entertainment reportedly rented out an entire holiday home in Gyeonggi-do for all nine members to stay for two days, and designed it in the form of an ‘exclusive club’. The girls were free from their bodyguards and managers during their two day stay, where they were able to enjoy their time with wine and appetizers.

With regards to their surprise gift, a representative of SM Entertainment stated, “The average age of SNSD is 21.5; they’re at a young age where they want to have fun too. We gave them this time for them to have fun amongst themselves without having other people looking down at them.”

They may be idol stars who show amazing performances with overflowing charisma on stage, but they’re also young adults in their teens and early 20s. From an agency’s perspective, handling these ‘active’ young adults isn’t an easy task. Major entertainment agencies are having to rack their brains to think of ideas like this in order to take care of their idols as efficiently as possible.

Major entertainment agencies find that it is these kinds of ‘unexpected presents’ that their idols appreciate the most. “Rather than the things that these kids know exactly when and what they will get, like end-of-year bonuses or regular pays, it’s those surprise gifts that move them the most and find motivation to work harder,” said an agency representative.

Recently, JYPE recently gifted two of their miss A members, Fei and Jia, with a two week ’special break’ for them to visit their hometown back in China. A JYPE representative stated, “The two cried a lot from being so touched by the present they never thought they’d get. Whenever the kids receive these kinds of ’surprise gifts’, their fighting spirits increase a lot more than before.”

It’s also the ’small, abrupt gifts’ given by their agency CEOs that also greatly move the hearts of these idols. Soon after returning from his business trip to America, JYP’s singers were said to be deeply moved when their producer J.Y Park visited the recording studio and said, “Take care of your health“, and handed them vitamins to eat.

An SM associate also stated, “Idols who can earn tens of thousands of money from one event alone were very touched when producer Lee Soo Man visited them on his way to his business trip to America to hand them a $100 pair of jeans he bought and said, ‘I think these will suit well if you wear them for this performance’.”

Agencies such as YG Entertainment are also known to use the effective ‘carrot and stick’ method for when they allow their artists to undergo personal activities. A worker in the entertainment industry stated, “Big Bang’s case is a model example. When one of the members receive explosive popularity through their solo activities, other members seem to work harder and manage themselves in order to receive their own opportunity for solo promotions.”

A similar strategy applies well to agency trainees who dream of becoming idols. JYPE uses the ‘carrot and stick’ method for their monthly showcases in order to keep their trainees consistently thriving to be the winner. However, when the atmosphere becomes stressful, the company allows for a surprise ski camp or rafting trip to cool down the mood. In SM’s case, they often hold company dinners with both their trainees and top stars like TVXQ to help maintain their motivation and determination.
